A dental implant is a small post — usually titanium, with a metal-free zirconia option also offered — that is placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over a healing period the bone integrates with the implant, creating a stable anchor onto which a crown is later fitted, restoring both the appearance and the function of the tooth without relying on neighbouring teeth for support. At MediArt Clinic implant treatment begins with a consultation and individual plan, including assessment of the bone; where more support is needed the clinic also offers sinus-floor augmentation. Three implant systems are available — BICON, SGS and a zirconia (metal-free) implant — so the choice can be matched to the clinical situation and the patient's preference. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, followed by a healing period before the final crown (priced separately) is made and fitted. For patients missing most or all of their teeth, the clinic provides full-arch restorations supported on four implants for the upper or lower jaw.
