Type
Blood Testing
Duration
20 min
In-clinic blood panel drawn at each Medi-Weightloss program visit to monitor metabolic health, blood glucose, cholesterol, thyroid function, and organ markers. The initial comprehensive panel is conducted at the new patient evaluation ($199 self-pay) and includes all key metabolic and cardiovascular markers. Follow-up labs are drawn regularly throughout the program to track progress and adjust the treatment plan. Most insured patients pay $0–$50 per visit including labs.
Medi-Weightloss Watertown integrates comprehensive blood testing into every stage of its physician-supervised weight management program, treating laboratory monitoring as a core clinical tool rather than an optional add-on. The initial blood draw at the new patient evaluation is a broad metabolic panel that covers blood glucose (fasting), hemoglobin A1c for insulin resistance and diabetes screening, a full lipid panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), a comprehensive metabolic panel assessing liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP), kidney function markers (creatinine, BUN), electrolytes, and protein levels, as well as thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) as part of the baseline metabolic assessment. These results allow the clinical team to identify underlying metabolic disorders — including insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, dyslipidemia, or hepatic steatosis — that may be driving weight gain or complicating weight loss attempts, and to adjust the program approach accordingly. Throughout the Acute Weight Loss phase and subsequent program stages, follow-up labs are drawn at regular intervals to track how metabolic markers respond to dietary changes, weight loss, and any supplementary interventions. The frequency of monitoring is adjusted by the provider based on initial findings and ongoing clinical judgment. All blood draws are performed in-house at the Watertown clinic, with results reviewed by the supervising physician or advanced practice provider and discussed directly with the patient at each visit. Labs are bundled into program visit costs; the self-pay new patient package including the initial comprehensive panel is $199. For insured patients, most major plans cover program visits with out-of-pocket costs of $0–$50 per visit including labs.
