PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

Platelet-rich plasma uses a small sample of your own blood, spun to concentrate its platelets and growth factors, which is then injected to stimulate skin repair and rejuvenation. Because it is autologous — derived entirely from you — it is well tolerated and a natural option for improving skin quality. At Medestetic it is offered as a single or double set, and works best as a short course spaced a few weeks apart.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a regenerative skin treatment that draws on your own blood's healing components. A small sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, which are rich in growth factors that signal tissue repair and collagen production. This concentrated plasma is then injected into the skin to support rejuvenation of tone, texture and firmness, and the centre offers a larger double-set option where more material is helpful. At Medestetic the process — blood draw, preparation and treatment — takes around forty-five to sixty minutes, with numbing cream applied for comfort. Because the material is entirely your own, there is no risk of allergy to a foreign substance, which makes PRP a popular choice for patients who prefer a natural approach. Expect mild redness or small bruises for a day or two. Results build gradually as collagen remodels over several weeks, so a course of around three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is usually recommended, with maintenance once or twice a year. PRP is well suited to dull or tired skin and fine lines, and can be combined with the centre's other skin-quality treatments. Suitability is assessed at consultation; it is not performed in pregnancy or in certain blood or clotting conditions.
