Platelet-rich fibrin is a second-generation autologous treatment that, like PRP, uses your own blood — but is prepared without anticoagulant so the platelets and growth factors are held within a natural fibrin scaffold and released more slowly. At Medestetic it is injected to support skin regeneration and is valued for the delicate under-eye area. As an autologous treatment it is well tolerated and best used as a short course.
About this treatment
PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) builds on the same principle as PRP but uses a gentler preparation: the blood is spun without anticoagulant, so as well as concentrating platelets and growth factors it forms a soft natural fibrin matrix. That scaffold traps the regenerative components and releases them more gradually over the days after treatment, which many practitioners feel gives a longer, more sustained stimulus to the skin than standard PRP.
At Medestetic a small blood sample is drawn, processed and then injected into the skin; the appointment takes around forty-five to sixty minutes with numbing cream for comfort. Because it is entirely your own material there is no risk of allergy to a foreign substance. Mild swelling, redness or small bruises can occur for a day or two. PRF is often chosen for thin, crêpey or tired skin — including the delicate area under the eyes — and results build…
