Radiofrequency Microneedling

Radiofrequency microneedling combines fine microneedles with radiofrequency energy delivered into the skin to firm laxity and refine texture more powerfully than microneedling alone. At Medeste Clinic the radiofrequency heats the deeper layers to stimulate collagen, making it well suited to early jowls, crêpey eye-area skin, the neck and acne scarring — and it can also target stretch marks on the body. A short course gives the most noticeable result.

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling pairs the collagen-stimulating effect of microneedling with controlled RF energy released from the needle tips into the deeper layers of the skin. While the micro-needles create channels that trigger the surface healing response, the radiofrequency heats the dermis to contract existing collagen and prompt new collagen and elastin formation — an approach associated with a firming, tightening effect that plain microneedling cannot achieve on its own. At Medeste Clinic the area is cleansed and numbed before treatment, which takes around forty-five to sixty minutes depending on the size. Expect redness and a feeling of mild tightness or warmth for a day or two, with little other downtime. It is particularly useful for early skin laxity — softening jowls, firming the lower face and neck, and improving crêpey skin around the eyes and mouth — as well as enlarged pores and acne or surgical scarring. The clinic also treats stretch marks on the abdomen and thighs. Because results build as collagen remodels, a course of around three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is recommended, with effects continuing to improve over the following months and maintenance once or twice a year. Strict sun protection afterwards is important. Suitability — including for those with certain implanted electronic devices — is assessed by the physician at consultation, and the treatment is avoided in pregnancy.
