Type
Extraction
Duration
1 hour
Surgical removal of teeth that cannot be taken out by simple extraction — most commonly impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth, deeply broken-down teeth and retained roots. These cases are handled by Medent's maxillofacial surgeon, founder Dr Sebastian Soroko, under local anaesthetic. The fee reflects the difficulty of access and the position of the tooth. The clinic also performs root-tip resection (apicectomy) to save selected teeth with persistent infection at the root apex.
Surgical tooth removal is used when a tooth cannot be extracted by a simple technique — for instance an impacted or partially erupted wisdom tooth, a tooth broken off at the gumline, or a retained root tip. Because these procedures can involve raising a small flap of gum, removing a little surrounding bone or sectioning the tooth so it can be eased out in pieces, they require surgical skill and are carried out at Medent by the practice's maxillofacial surgeon, Dr n. med. Sebastian Soroko, whose hospital training covers exactly this kind of work. Wisdom teeth are a frequent reason for surgery: lower wisdom teeth in particular are often angled against the tooth in front or trapped under gum and bone, which can cause repeated inflammation, decay or pressure. After assessment — usually including imaging to map the tooth and nearby nerves and sinuses — the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, and the price range reflects how deep and awkward the tooth is to access. The surgeon may also recommend root-tip resection (apicectomy), a procedure that removes infection and the very tip of a root through a small surgical approach to save a tooth that would otherwise be lost despite previous root-canal treatment. Afterwards you receive detailed aftercare guidance to manage swelling and support healing, along with arrangements for suture removal where stitches are placed. The surgeon will discuss the specific risks and recovery for your case at consultation, as these vary with the tooth's position and your individual anatomy.
