A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a titanium post placed in the jawbone that supports a crown, restoring both function and appearance without affecting neighbouring teeth. Medent offers a choice of systems — the established OSSTEM and the premium AstraTech (Dentsply) — placed by the clinic's maxillofacial surgeon. Where the bone needs reinforcing, augmentation and sinus-lift procedures are available so that implants can be placed predictably even in more demanding cases.
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Over a healing period the bone integrates with the implant surface, creating a stable foundation onto which a custom crown is later fitted. Because the implant stands on its own, it replaces a single missing tooth without grinding down the healthy teeth on either side, and it helps preserve the surrounding bone that otherwise tends to shrink after tooth loss. Treatment at Medent begins with an implant consultation and assessment of the site, including the quantity and quality of bone. The procedure has two parts reflected in the pricing: the surgical placement of the implant, performed under local anaesthetic by maxillofacial surgeon Dr Sebastian Soroko, and the later prosthetic stage in which an abutment and crown are made and fitted once healing is complete. The clinic offers a choice between the well-proven OSSTEM system and the premium AstraTech (Dentsply) system, and can also provide a custom ATLANTIS abutment for an optimal fit. For patients who lack sufficient bone, the practice carries out supporting surgery — bone augmentation, block grafting and closed or open sinus lifts — so that implants can be placed where they otherwise might not be possible; in selected cases immediate placement after extraction is also an option. Implants are suited to adults in good general and oral health with healthy gums; the surgeon explains the full sequence, healing intervals, any preparatory grafting and the total cost for your particular case at consultation.
