Dental Implants

Duration

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a titanium post placed in the jawbone, which acts as a root for a crown once it has healed. Implants restore chewing and appearance without relying on neighbouring teeth, and are planned at MEDENT with 3D CBCT imaging for accurate, safe positioning. Treatment is led by Dr Tomasz Babijczuk, who holds the Polish Implantology Association's Curriculum qualification.

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over a healing period the bone integrates with the implant (a process called osseointegration), creating a stable foundation onto which a custom crown is later attached. Unlike a conventional bridge, an implant does not require the neighbouring teeth to be cut down, and it helps maintain the bone and restore natural chewing and a complete smile. Implants can replace a single tooth, several teeth or, in combination, support larger restorations. At MEDENT implant treatment is planned using 3D CBCT cone-beam imaging, which lets the surgeon assess bone volume and the position of nerves and sinuses and place the implant accurately and safely. Care is led by Dr Tomasz Babijczuk, a specialist in prosthetics and surgery who completed the Implantology Curriculum of the Polish Implantology Association, passing with distinction. The pathway typically involves a consultation and imaging, placement of the implant under local anaesthetic, a healing phase, and then fitting of the final porcelain crown; the clinic prices the surgical placement and the implant crown separately because the total depends on how many implants are needed and the chosen restoration. Good oral hygiene and regular check-ups are important for the long-term health of an implant, and the dentist will assess your suitability, bone and general health and explain the stages and timing at consultation. For patients with several missing teeth or a loose denture, implants can also be used to anchor a more stable prosthesis.
