FDA-approved Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photofacial to address dark spots, sun damage, rosacea, acne scarring, and uneven skin tone. The IPL device delivers broad-spectrum light energy absorbed by melanin and blood vessels, clearing pigmented and vascular irregularities. A series of three to five sessions is typically recommended. Minimal downtime with temporary redness post-treatment. Ideal for patients in the Las Vegas sun-exposure environment.
MDspa Las Vegas offers IPL photofacial treatment using an FDA-approved Intense Pulsed Light device to target a range of pigmented and vascular skin concerns. Unlike lasers that emit a single concentrated wavelength, IPL emits a broad spectrum of light filtered to specific wavelength ranges to selectively target chromophores in the skin — primarily melanin (responsible for pigmented lesions) and oxyhaemoglobin (responsible for vascular redness and broken capillaries). When the light energy is absorbed by these chromophores, it converts to heat, causing localised thermal damage to the targeted structure while leaving surrounding tissue intact. Pigmented lesions such as solar lentigines (age spots), freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation absorb the IPL energy and temporarily darken before the body's macrophage system clears the disrupted melanin over one to two weeks. Vascular targets such as facial telangiectasias, rosacea redness, and diffuse facial erythema undergo coagulation and are progressively absorbed by the body. The IPL photofacial is particularly relevant in the Las Vegas climate, where intense UV exposure year-round drives accelerated photoageing — solar lentigines, diffuse pigmentation, and uneven tone are common presenting concerns. A series of three to five sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart, is typically recommended to achieve meaningful clearance of photodamage, with annual maintenance sessions to manage ongoing UV-driven changes. Each session runs approximately twenty to thirty minutes. Temporary redness resembling a mild sunburn is the expected immediate post-treatment finding, resolving within a few hours. Treated pigmented lesions darken and flake off over seven to fourteen days as part of the expected response.
