Therapeutic ultrasound applied to injured or inflamed tissue for deep heating, pain relief, and acceleration of the healing process in tendons, ligaments, and muscles.
Therapeutic ultrasound at MCK uses high-frequency sound waves to deliver deep tissue heating and micro-massage effects to injured areas. The ultrasound probe is applied to the skin with coupling gel and moved over the treatment area, delivering energy that penetrates several centimetres into the tissue. The thermal effects increase local blood flow and tissue extensibility, while the mechanical micro-vibrations stimulate cellular activity and accelerate repair processes. Ultrasound is particularly effective for tendinopathies, scar tissue management, muscle spasm, and joint contractures. At MCK, ultrasound is frequently combined with cryotherapy in a contrast protocol — cold exposure for acute inflammation control followed by ultrasound for deeper tissue healing stimulation.
