Type
Laser Therapy (HILT)
Duration
15 min
Therapeutic point laser application for pain relief, tissue healing, and inflammation reduction. Used in rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, and chronic pain management.
Therapeutic laser therapy (also known as low-level laser therapy or photobiomodulation in a rehabilitation context) uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular healing processes in damaged or inflamed tissue. The laser energy is absorbed by chromophores within cells, enhancing mitochondrial function and ATP production, which accelerates the body's natural repair mechanisms. At MCK, laser therapy is used as part of the rehabilitation toolkit for a range of musculoskeletal conditions. Common applications include tendinopathy (tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis), joint osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries (sprains, strains), post-surgical wound healing, and chronic pain conditions. Laser therapy is frequently combined with other physiotherapy modalities at MCK, including cryotherapy, electrotherapy, and exercise programmes. The combination of cold therapy (for acute inflammation reduction) and laser therapy (for cellular healing stimulation) is a well-established protocol in Polish rehabilitation medicine.
