The first visit is designed as a complete diagnostic appointment rather than a quick look. After taking your dental and general health history, the dentist carries out a thorough examination of the teeth, existing restorations, gums and bite, and supplements this with digital imaging from the clinic's own equipment — typically a panoramic pantomogram or, where a fuller three-dimensional view is helpful, a cone-beam CT (CBCT) scan. This imaging is what allows accurate assessment of tooth roots, bone levels, impacted teeth and the jaw, which is essential before planning implants, surgical extractions or endodontic work. Once the examination and scans are reviewed, the dentist explains what they have found in plain terms and sets out the options, sequencing and indicative costs in a written treatment plan.
