Type

Thread Lift

Duration

1 hour

PDO thread lifting uses absorbable barbed sutures placed under the skin to gently reposition and support sagging tissue along the cheeks, jawline or neck, giving an immediate subtle lift. The threads also stimulate collagen as they dissolve, so firmness continues to improve over the following months. It suits patients with mild to moderate laxity who want more lift than injectables alone but are not ready for surgery.

A PDO thread lift uses fine, absorbable polydioxanone threads with small barbs or cones along their length. Introduced under the skin through a needle or cannula, the barbs grip the soft tissue so that, when the thread is gently drawn, lax tissue is lifted and repositioned — most often along the cheeks, jawline, jowls or neck. Beyond the immediate mechanical lift, the threads are associated with stimulating a collagen response in the surrounding tissue as they are slowly absorbed over the following months, which can support firmness after the threads themselves have gone. At MASI the treatment is performed by a physician after a free consultation to assess your degree of laxity and plan the number and placement of threads — commonly six to ten for a facial lift. Local anaesthetic is used for comfort. The procedure typically takes thirty to sixty minutes; afterwards you may notice mild swelling, tenderness, small bruises and a sensation of tightness for several days, with guidance to avoid wide mouth movements, facials and sleeping on the face during early healing. The lifting effect is visible straight away and is generally associated with several months up to around a year or more, with collagen stimulation contributing to the result. Thread lifting is suited to adults with mild-to-moderate sagging who want a non-surgical lift and can be combined with toxin, filler and skin treatments. Suitability and realistic expectations are discussed with the doctor at consultation.
