PDO Thread Lift (Barb 4D)

PDO thread lifts use absorbable barbed threads placed under the skin to gently reposition and support areas that have begun to sag, such as the cheeks, jawline or brows. As well as an immediate subtle lift, the threads stimulate collagen along their path as they dissolve. It suits early laxity in patients who want some lift without surgery, with the number of threads tailored to the area.

A PDO thread lift uses fine, absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) threads — a material long used in surgical sutures — to lift and support soft tissue that has started to descend with age. Barbed threads, such as the Barb 4D and Barb 4D Anchor types used at Marosz, have tiny projections along their length that grip the tissue, allowing the practitioner to reposition it and create an immediate, subtle lift. As the threads are gradually absorbed over the following months, they also stimulate collagen formation along their path, which is associated with a firming effect that outlasts the threads themselves. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and typically takes around thirty to forty-five minutes depending on the number of threads. Fine entry points are used to pass the threads beneath the skin of the cheeks, jawline, brows or neck. Afterwards it is common to feel tightness and to have some swelling, tenderness or bruising for several days, with advice to avoid wide mouth movements and facial massage while the threads settle. Results are visible immediately and continue to develop as collagen builds, generally lasting in the region of a year before the effect gradually fades. Thread lifts are best suited to adults with mild to moderate laxity who want a modest, non-surgical lift rather than the more dramatic change of a surgical facelift.
