The Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel at MarBelle Clinic uses the Lutronic Hollywood Spectra XT — a nanosecond Nd:YAG laser operating at 1064 nm and 532 nm — combined with a liquid carbon mask to deliver a deep skin cleanse and instant radiance boost. Carbon particles are applied across the face, penetrate into open pores, and bond with surface impurities. The laser then vaporises the carbon layer in a rapid series of pulses, simultaneously removing the debris, exfoliating dead skin cells, and delivering thermal stimulation to underlying collagen. The treatment is comfortable, requires no anaesthesia, and can be performed year-round including on tanned skin.
The Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel has become one of the most requested non-ablative skin treatments in European aesthetic clinics, and MarBelle's version is built around the Lutronic Hollywood Spectra XT — one of the few devices certified for this protocol by the manufacturer. The Spectra XT is a Q-switched Nd:YAG platform that operates at both 1064 nm (deeper penetration, collagen stimulation) and 532 nm (superficial pigment targeting), giving the practitioner flexibility to address different skin concerns in a single session. The treatment begins with cleansing the skin and applying a thin, even layer of carbon suspension — sometimes called a 'carbon milk' — across the face. The carbon particles are small enough to penetrate partially into pores and adhere to surface oils, sebum plugs, and dead cell debris. After allowing the layer to dry briefly, the practitioner makes a first gentle warming pass with the laser at low fluence. This warms the carbon and surrounding tissue without significant ablation, beginning a mild photothermal stimulation. The second pass uses higher energy settings. The nanosecond pulses cause rapid photoacoustic vaporisation of the carbon particles, which carry the adhered impurities with them as they combust. This mechanical micro-exfoliation is more precise and less traumatic than chemical or manual exfoliation, and the photoacoustic shockwave briefly increases cell permeability, potentially enhancing absorption of subsequent topical products. The result is an immediate improvement in skin texture, a reduction in pore visibility, and a brightening effect on dull or uneven complexions. Most patients describe a warm, tingling sensation during the treatment — there is no pain and no numbing is required. Redness typically resolves within one to two hours, making this suitable for same-day social commitments. Because the 1064 nm wavelength has low melanin affinity at nanosecond pulse durations, this treatment is safe across Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI and is one of the few laser procedures that can be performed on tanned skin, making it practical as a year-round option. Regular monthly sessions are recommended for clients focused on skin maintenance and pore management. For more active concerns such as early acne or mild pigmentation, the treating physician may recommend a series of four to six sessions at monthly intervals. No special preparation beyond clean, makeup-free skin is required.
