The core hormone panel typically measures oestradiol (E2), progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH), total and free testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), and dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEA-S). These markers together provide a detailed picture of ovarian reserve, ovulatory function, and androgenic balance.

Thyroid function is assessed through TSH, free T3, and free T4, given the high prevalence of thyroid disorders in women and their significant impact on menstrual regularity, mood, weight, and fertility. Prolactin levels are checked where irregular periods or galactorrhoea is a concern. A fasting glucose and HbA1c are typically included to screen for insulin resistance and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which often co-presents with hormonal imbalances.
