Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that produces a three-dimensional image of the teeth, jaws, surrounding bone, nerve canals and sinuses. Unlike a standard flat X-ray, a 3D scan lets the dentist measure bone height and width, see the exact position of anatomical structures, and assess teeth and roots from any angle. The scan itself is quick and straightforward — you stay still for a short time while the scanner rotates around the head — and the resulting images are reviewed by the dentist as part of planning your treatment.
