VBeam Perfecta is a 595 nm pulsed dye laser by Candela designed to target oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels, making it a leading treatment for rosacea, facial redness, port wine birthmarks, spider veins, hemangiomas, and scars. Cryogen spray cooling protects the skin surface during treatment. Minimal downtime — mild redness for one to two days. The Laser & Skin Surgery Center has extensive expertise with VBeam across all vascular indications.
The VBeam Perfecta pulsed dye laser at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York operates at 595 nm — a wavelength specifically absorbed by oxyhemoglobin in red blood cells, making it one of the most selective vascular laser systems available. When the 595 nm pulsed dye laser energy is absorbed by hemoglobin in superficial blood vessels, it converts to heat, causing selective photothermolysis of the vessel wall while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected. This selective destruction of the targeted vessel, followed by inflammatory resorption and vascular remodelling, reduces redness and visible vessels without damaging the overlying skin surface. The Perfecta's integrated DCD (Dynamic Cooling Device) delivers a cryogen spray milliseconds before the laser pulse to cool the epidermis, protecting melanin from inadvertent thermal damage and allowing treatment at higher energies with improved tolerability and a lower risk of post-treatment bruising. The breadth of vascular conditions treated at the center with VBeam includes rosacea (diffuse facial redness and telangiectasias), port wine stains and vascular birthmarks, facial and neck spider veins, hemangiomas (infantile and adult), cherry angiomas, erythematous hypertrophic scars and keloids, and post-procedural erythema. The device also has applications in reducing redness associated with acne and in the treatment of stretch marks (striae). For straightforward telangiectasias and mild rosacea, one to two sessions may achieve significant clearance; for port wine stains and larger vascular anomalies, multiple sessions over months may be required. Post-treatment findings typically include mild redness and occasional purpura (bruising) at the treatment site, resolving within one to two days for most patients. The center's dermatologists have published extensively on VBeam applications and are recognised as leading specialists in pulsed dye laser therapy.
