Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal works via selective photothermolysis: the laser energy is absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and follicular bulge, converting to heat that damages the follicle and inhibits future growth without damaging the surrounding skin. The alexandrite wavelength (755 nm) is highly absorbed by melanin and is most effective for lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III) with dark hair. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates more deeply and has lower melanin absorption, making it appropriate for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) where alexandrite carries a higher risk of epidermal pigment disruption. The GentleMax Pro's dual-wavelength capability allows the clinician to optimise the treatment protocol for each patient in a single platform, sometimes combining wavelengths within a session to address multiple hair types or skin zones. All platforms at the center include integrated cooling systems (cryogen spray or contact cooling) to maintain epidermal safety during treatment. Topical anesthetic cream is available for sensitive treatment areas including the face, bikini line, and underarms. Body areas routinely treated include the face (upper lip, chin, sideburns, neck), underarms, back, chest and abdomen, legs (full or partial), arms, and bikini/Brazilian areas. Because laser hair removal is only effective during the anagen (active growth) phase of the hair cycle — when the bulge and bulb contain the most melanin — multiple sessions spaced approximately four to eight weeks apart are required to capture successive cohorts of follicles entering anagen. A typical course of six to eight sessions achieves a sixty to eighty percent reduction in hair density, with periodic maintenance sessions extending the result.
