Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers work by injecting a cross-linked polysaccharide gel — chemically identical to the HA found naturally in skin and joint fluid — into the dermis or subcutaneous layer, where it physically occupies the space created by volume loss and binds water to produce lasting structural support. The concentration, rheology (flow properties) and degree of cross-linking of the HA gel are formulated differently by manufacturers to suit different anatomical zones and indications: softer, less cross-linked gels integrate smoothly into thin tissue such as the lips or under-eye area, while firmer, more structured gels provide lift and projection in the cheeks, temples or jawline. The doctor uses a fine needle to inject the gel in precise, small-volume deposits at the correct anatomical plane for each area. Common injection zones include the nasolabial folds (the lines running from the corners of the nose to the mouth corners), the oral commissures (downturned mouth corners), sunken or depressed scars, the lip body and border for augmentation and definition, and cheek volume restoration. The precise per-ml billing model — 5,500 Kč per ml with fractions charged proportionally — means that a partial syringe correction (for example, 0.4 ml to a single nasolabial fold) costs precisely 2,200 Kč rather than the full-syringe price, and patients are not charged for product that is not used. Results are visible immediately at the end of the session; mild swelling and possible minor bruising are normal and typically settle within three to seven days. The final, settled result becomes fully visible once the swelling resolves. Hyaluronic acid fillers are fully reversible: if the result does not meet expectations or if there is an adverse reaction, injected hyaluronidase enzyme can dissolve the HA gel. This reversibility is a key safety advantage over permanent or semi-permanent fillers.
