It reports four core lipid markers: total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol (the fraction associated with clearing cholesterol from arteries), LDL-cholesterol (the fraction associated with arterial deposition and cardiovascular risk), and triacylglycerols (triglycerides, the main storage form of fat in the blood). Together these are the standard inputs clinicians use to gauge atherogenic risk and to judge the effect of diet, exercise or lipid-lowering measures over time. At 180 Kč this is the most affordable package in Lab Med's catalogue, which makes it well suited to people who simply want to keep an eye on their cholesterol numbers periodically without paying for a broader screen. Accurate lipid results depend on fasting, so the draw must be taken nalačno — no food and no sweetened or alcoholic drinks for 12 hours beforehand — and not after a night shift. The sample is a standard venous blood draw taken on a walk-in basis between 07:00 and 11:00, Monday to Friday, at the second-floor collection room of the Poliklinika U Pošty in Brno-Starý Lískovec; all sampling material is provided free. Results are usually released within 24 hours. Self-payers collect a printed report in person against signature and ID, or set up secure electronic delivery via a combined email-and-SMS link at the collection room.
