Funkce ledvin (Kidney Function) is a self-pay package that assesses renal health using both a blood draw and a urine sample, giving a more complete view than blood markers alone. In blood, urea and creatinine are waste products normally filtered by the kidneys; rising levels suggest reduced filtration. In urine, the albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) detects small amounts of albumin that leak through when the filtering units are stressed — an early-warning sign that can appear before blood markers change — while microscopic examination of the urinary sediment can reveal red or white blood cells, casts or crystals that point to inflammation, infection or stone formation. The panel suits people with risk factors for kidney disease — such as diabetes or high blood pressure — or anyone wanting reassurance about renal function, particularly if they take medications cleared by the kidneys. The blood portion is a standard venous draw of around fifteen minutes, taken on a walk-in basis between 07:00 and 11:00, Monday to Friday, at the second-floor collection room of the Poliklinika U Pošty in Brno-Starý Lískovec. A urine sample is required for the ACR and sediment; deliver any urine specimen in the labelled tube within one to two hours of voiding so the sediment analysis is reliable. All sampling material is provided free of charge. Results are typically available within 24 hours, collected in person against signature and ID or via secure electronic delivery arranged at the collection room. Pairing the blood markers with urine ACR and sediment is what distinguishes this package from a blood-only kidney check and lets it catch early kidney involvement that filtration markers alone might miss. A raised ACR, abnormal sediment or rising creatinine should be reviewed with a physician, who can place it in the context of blood pressure, blood sugar and medication use. All analysis is performed under ČSN EN ISO 15189 accreditation.
