A focused diabetes-screening package combining three complementary markers: fasting glucose (a snapshot of current blood sugar), HbA1c (average blood sugar over the past two to three months) and the urinary albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR), an early indicator of kidney involvement. Together they screen both for diabetes and for one of its earliest complications. Drawn fasting with a urine sample at the ISO 15189-accredited Brno-Starý Lískovec laboratory, results usually within 24 hours.
Diabetes is a self-pay package that screens for disordered carbohydrate metabolism using three markers that look at the problem from different angles. Fasting glucose captures the blood-sugar level at the moment of the draw; glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) reflects the average blood-glucose concentration over roughly the previous two to three months and so smooths out day-to-day variation; and the urinary albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) detects small amounts of albumin leaking into the urine, which is one of the earliest signs that elevated blood sugar may be affecting the kidneys. Reading current, medium-term and early-complication markers together gives a fuller picture than any single value. The package suits people with risk factors for type 2 diabetes — family history, overweight, sedentary lifestyle — or anyone who simply wants to confirm their blood sugar is well controlled. Because glucose is sensitive to recent food, the blood portion must be taken fasting (nalačno): no food and no sweetened or alcoholic drinks for 12 hours beforehand, and not after a night shift. A urine sample is also required for the ACR; deliver any urine specimen in the labelled tube within one to two hours of voiding. The venous draw takes around fifteen minutes and is done on a walk-in basis between 07:00 and 11:00, Monday to Friday, at the second-floor collection room of the Poliklinika U Pošty in Brno-Starý Lískovec. Results are typically available within 24 hours, collected in person against signature and ID or via secure electronic delivery arranged at the collection room. The HbA1c reading is especially useful because it is unaffected by what you ate that morning, while the ACR can prompt earlier attention to kidney protection if it is raised. A result suggesting impaired glucose handling should be reviewed with a physician, who can confirm a diagnosis and advise on next steps. All analysis is performed under ČSN EN ISO 15189 accreditation.
