Základní prevence (Basic Prevention) is Lab Med's headline self-pay overview test, designed to give a healthy adult a broad baseline of how the body's core systems are performing from one fasting blood sample. Rather than focusing on a single organ, it deliberately spans five areas at once: kidney function (urea, creatinine), liver and biliary function (ALT, GGT, ALP, amylase, total and direct bilirubin), blood formation (a full blood count with differential), homeostasis and mineral balance (sodium, potassium, chloride, glucose, albumin), and lipid metabolism (total cholesterol). This makes it a sensible starting point for someone who has not had bloods done in a while and wants a single, affordable snapshot before deciding whether any system needs a closer look. Preparation matters: the package must be taken fasting (nalačno), meaning no food and no sweetened or alcoholic drinks for 12 hours beforehand, and you should not attend after a night shift. Draws are taken on a walk-in basis between 07:00 and 11:00, Monday to Friday, at the collection room on the second floor of the Poliklinika U Pošty in Brno-Starý Lískovec; the quietest window is around 09:00 to 09:40. The appointment itself is short — a standard venous draw of roughly fifteen minutes including paperwork. All sampling material is supplied free of charge. Results are typically available within 24 hours. Self-payers collect their printed report in person against a signature and ID, or can arrange secure electronic delivery via a combined email-and-SMS link set up at the collection room; results are not sent by plain email for confidentiality reasons. Because the package reads across several systems, an out-of-range value is best interpreted in context — Lab Med's staff can recommend targeted add-on tests when something stands out, and any clinically meaningful finding should be discussed with a physician.
