A comprehensive anaemia work-up combining iron studies (iron, ferritin, transferrin), the haematinic vitamins folate and B12, and a full blood count (KO). Together they identify both whether anaemia is present and what is driving it — iron deficiency, depleted stores, or a B12/folate shortfall. Best drawn in the morning at the ISO 15189-accredited Brno-Starý Lískovec laboratory, results usually within 24 hours.

Anemie (Anaemia) is a self-pay package that goes beyond simply confirming anaemia to investigate its cause. The full blood count (KO) measures haemoglobin and red-cell indices to establish whether anaemia is present and what type. The iron studies then characterise iron status from three angles: serum iron (the amount circulating), ferritin (the body's iron storage protein, and the most sensitive marker of depleted reserves) and transferrin (the transport protein that rises when the body tries to capture more iron). Finally, folate and vitamin B12 cover the two haematinic vitamins whose deficiency produces a different, megaloblastic form of anaemia. Measuring all of these together means a single draw can distinguish iron-deficiency anaemia from a B12 or folate shortfall. The package suits people with symptoms such as persistent fatigue, breathlessness or pallor, those on restrictive or plant-based diets that can run low on B12, and anyone wanting to confirm their iron stores. Lab Med advises that this panel is taken in the morning (dopoledne). The sample is a standard venous blood draw of around fifteen minutes, taken on a walk-in basis between 07:00 and 11:00, Monday to Friday, at the second-floor collection room of the Poliklinika U Pošty in Brno-Starý Lískovec; confirm any fasting requirement when booking. All sampling material is provided free of charge. Results are typically released within 24 hours, collected in person against signature and ID or via secure electronic delivery arranged at the collection room. Because ferritin can be misleadingly normal or raised during inflammation, the combination of markers in this panel is what allows a more reliable read than iron alone — and the inclusion of B12 and folate means a non-iron cause will not be missed. A confirmed deficiency should be reviewed with a physician to identify and address the underlying reason. All analysis is performed under ČSN EN ISO 15189 accreditation.
