The dental hygienist uses ultrasonic scaling and hand instruments to clean above and below the gum line, followed by polishing and personalised brushing technique instruction. Professional cleaning is essential before starting clear aligner treatment to ensure gum health and optimal oral hygiene throughout the orthodontic course.
About this treatment
Professional dental hygiene is the cornerstone of preventive dentistry and a clinical prerequisite before beginning any orthodontic treatment — including clear aligners. At Váš krásný úsměv, the hygiene session is carried out by a qualified dental hygienist and covers the full scope of professional oral prophylaxis.
What the session includes
- Supra- and subgingival scaling: removal of calculus (tartar) deposits above and below the gum line using ultrasonic scaler and hand curettes. Tartar cannot be removed by brushing and, if left, drives gum inflammation and periodontal bone loss.
- Airflow / staining removal: pressurised powder-water spray removes surface stains from coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco — revealing the natural tooth colour underneath.
- Polishing: rotary rubber cup polishing with prophylaxis paste smooths the tooth surface, making it harder for new plaque to adhere.
- Periodontal probing: measurement of gingival pocket depths around each tooth to detect signs of early periodontitis before orthodontic treatment begins.
