Pressotherapy (30min)

Type

Compression Therapy

Duration

30 min

Pneumatic compression therapy using a full-leg pressotherapy device to stimulate lymphatic drainage, improve venous return, reduce fluid retention, and accelerate post-exercise recovery. A passive, device-based treatment.

Pressotherapy is a device-based compression treatment that uses inflatable chambers in specialised leg cuffs (and optionally abdominal and arm sleeves) to apply sequential, wave-like pressure from the feet upward toward the torso. The controlled inflation and deflation cycle mimics the body's natural muscle-pump mechanism, driving lymphatic fluid and venous blood back toward the heart more efficiently than passive rest alone. At Andrii Kondakov's studio, the 30-minute pressotherapy session uses a multi-chamber pneumatic device that wraps around both legs. The chambers inflate sequentially from the feet to the upper thighs, creating a peristaltic compression wave that propels fluid centrally. Pressure levels are calibrated to the client's comfort and clinical needs — typically between 30 and 80 mmHg. The treatment is entirely passive: the client lies comfortably while the device cycles through its compression program. Pressotherapy is used by athletes as a recovery accelerator — the mechanical compression clears metabolic waste products (lactate, creatine kinase, inflammatory mediators) from exercised muscles faster than rest alone. Professional cycling teams, marathon runners, and CrossFit athletes commonly use pressotherapy between training sessions or competition stages. Beyond sport, the treatment is effective for chronic venous insufficiency, lymphoedema management, post-surgical swelling, heavy or tired legs from prolonged standing, and cosmetic concerns like cellulite reduction. The 30-minute session length is standard for compression therapy and is sufficient for a complete multi-cycle treatment of both legs. Many clients combine pressotherapy with one of the studio's manual massage treatments — for example, a sports massage for muscular recovery followed by pressotherapy for fluid-level recovery, creating a comprehensive post-training protocol. At 1,100 CZK (approximately 44 EUR) for a 30-minute session, the treatment is affordably priced for regular use. Athletes training intensively may benefit from two to three sessions per week during high-load training blocks. The treatment has very few contraindications — it should be avoided in cases of acute deep vein thrombosis, active infection in the treated area, or severe peripheral arterial disease. No preparation is required; clients should wear comfortable clothing as the leg cuffs are applied over clothing or directly on skin.
