Myofascial release targeting deep connective tissue restrictions. Uses sustained pressure and slow strokes to release fascial adhesions, restore tissue glide, and address chronic pain patterns that superficial massage cannot reach.
Myofascial release is a specialised form of manual therapy that targets the fascial system — the continuous web of connective tissue that surrounds and interconnects every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ in the body. When fascia becomes restricted through injury, inflammation, surgical scarring, or chronic postural stress, it can create pain, reduce mobility, and transmit tension to distant body regions through fascial chains. At Andrii Kondakov's studio, the 60-minute myofascial session begins with a postural and movement assessment to identify the primary restriction patterns. The therapist then applies sustained, slow pressure — often held for 90 to 120 seconds per point — to allow the fascia to soften and release. Unlike sports massage, which works primarily on muscle tissue, myofascial release engages the connective tissue layer between and around muscles. The pressure is deep but gradual, working with the tissue's natural viscoelastic properties rather than forcing through resistance. Common treatment areas include the thoracolumbar fascia (lower back), the IT band and lateral thigh, the plantar fascia, cervical and suboccipital fascia (neck and base of skull), and the pectoral and anterior shoulder fascia. The therapist follows restriction patterns across the body rather than treating isolated muscles, which often reveals connections between seemingly unrelated pain sites — for example, chronic headaches originating from thoracic fascial restrictions. Myofascial release is particularly effective for clients with chronic pain conditions, post-surgical adhesions, repetitive strain injuries, and postural dysfunction from desk work. It complements sports massage well: sports massage addresses acute muscular tension, while myofascial work resolves the deeper structural restrictions that perpetuate recurring tension patterns. At 1,500 CZK (approximately 60 EUR) for 60 minutes, this treatment is priced identically to the sports massage, making it accessible for regular maintenance. Clients may experience a profound sense of release and lightness after treatment, sometimes accompanied by mild soreness as tissues adapt to their new alignment. The studio recommends gentle movement and adequate hydration in the 24 hours following treatment.
