Tooth Extraction

Type

Extraction

Duration

30 min

Tooth extraction removes a tooth that is too damaged, decayed or impacted to keep, carried out under local anaesthetic. KM Dental Experts covers straightforward extractions through to surgical removal of impacted and wisdom teeth, with a maxillofacial surgeon on the team for more complex cases. In-house imaging helps assess root position and nearby structures beforehand. Aftercare advice is given to support comfortable healing.

An extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket, recommended when a tooth cannot be saved by filling, root canal treatment or a crown — for example with extensive decay, advanced gum disease, a fracture below the gum, or a wisdom tooth that is impacted or repeatedly inflamed. At KM Dental Experts extractions are performed under local anaesthetic, and the centre's price list distinguishes a routine permanent-tooth extraction, a wisdom-tooth extraction and the surgical removal of a retained (impacted) tooth that requires a more involved procedure. Before a surgical extraction the team can use panoramic or cone-beam imaging to assess the position of the roots and their relationship to nerves and the sinus, which helps plan a safe approach. A maxillofacial surgeon is part of the practice for difficult or surgical cases. Where there is an acute abscess, the centre also lists incision and drainage to relieve infection. After an extraction you are given clear aftercare instructions to encourage a clot to form and the socket to heal, including guidance on bleeding, swelling, eating and oral hygiene in the first days. Where a tooth has been removed from a visible or functional position, the dentist can discuss replacement options such as an implant, bridge or denture, and the timing for these. The dentist confirms which category applies and the final cost after examining the tooth; the price shown is for a routine permanent-tooth extraction.
