Upper eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, removes excess skin and, where needed, small amounts of fat from the upper lids to refresh a heavy or hooded eye area. Performed by a plastic surgeon under local anaesthetic, it is one of the most popular facial procedures for opening up the eyes and looking less tired. About this treatment

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that addresses the excess, lax skin that can gather on the upper eyelids with age and sometimes obscure the natural eyelid crease, giving a heavy or hooded look. Through an incision hidden in the lid crease, the surgeon removes the surplus skin and, if required, a conservative amount of muscle or fat, then closes with very fine sutures so the resulting scar sits discreetly within the fold.

At Klinika Złotowska the operation is usually carried out under local anaesthetic and takes around an hour. Afterwards, bruising and swelling around the eyes are expected for one to two weeks; sutures are typically removed within about a week, and most people feel comfortable returning to social activities once the visible bruising has faded.
