A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once it has integrated with the surrounding bone over a period of healing, it provides a stable foundation for a crown that replaces a single missing tooth, or for a bridge or denture that replaces several. Because the implant is anchored in bone rather than resting on the gum or relying on neighbouring teeth, it is widely associated with a natural feel and the preservation of bone that would otherwise be lost after tooth loss. At Klinika dr Gajda, treatment begins with an assessment and 3D cone-beam (CBCT) tomography so the dentist can evaluate bone volume and plan the position of the implant precisely. The fixture is then placed under local anaesthetic, with sedation available for anxious patients; where bone is insufficient, the clinic offers grafting with xenograft material, a barrier membrane, PRF prepared from the patient's own blood, or a closed or open sinus lift, each quoted separately. After a healing period the implant is uncovered, a healing screw fitted, and an individual abutment and crown made to complete the restoration. The founder of the practice concentrates on more demanding implant, periodontal and prosthetic cases, and full-arch options on two, four or six implants are also offered for patients missing most or all of their teeth.
