The consultation portion covers history-taking, contraindication screening (active chemotherapy and radiotherapy are flagged on KCTH's site as contraindications) and an ear-equalisation briefing. The 30-minute chamber portion is shorter than the standard 60-minute session and is positioned as a familiarisation rather than a therapeutic dose.

Preparation required
Avoid alcohol and heavy meals 2–3 hours before. Wear comfortable clothing without metal fastenings or strong fragrances. Inform staff of any cold/flu symptoms — ear-equalisation can be uncomfortable when congested. Bring a water bottle. Sessions are not advised during active chemotherapy or radiotherapy (flagged on KCTH's site), pregnancy, with active middle-ear infection, untreated pneumothorax, or recent ear surgery. Discuss any chronic conditions with KCTH staff before booking.
