Root canal treatment removes infected or damaged pulp from inside a tooth, cleans and disinfects the canals, and seals them to save the tooth and relieve pain. At Kamil Turek Stomatologia it is carried out under a dental microscope for better visibility of the fine canal anatomy, and a glass-fibre post is placed to support a subsequent restoration. Pricing depends on the tooth type, as molars have more canals. Retreatment of previously treated teeth is also offered.
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft tissue inside a tooth — the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels — becomes inflamed or infected through deep decay, a crack or trauma. Left untreated this can cause severe pain and abscesses, so the aim of treatment is to remove the diseased pulp, thoroughly clean and shape the narrow canals inside the roots, disinfect them and seal them to prevent reinfection, allowing the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. At Kamil Turek Stomatologia endodontic treatment is performed using a dental operating microscope, which magnifies and illuminates the inside of the tooth so the clinician can locate and treat the fine, sometimes complex canal systems more accurately. The tooth is numbed and isolated, the canals are cleaned and filled, and a glass-fibre post is placed where needed to reinforce the tooth and support the final restoration. Because a root-treated tooth can become more brittle, it is often restored afterwards with a crown, which is quoted separately. Pricing reflects the complexity of the tooth: front teeth (incisors and canines) generally have a single canal, premolars have one or two, and molars several, which is why molar treatment costs more. The clinic also offers retreatment for teeth where a previous root filling has failed. After treatment, mild tenderness for a few days is normal; good hygiene and a timely permanent restoration give the tooth the best long-term outlook.
