PDO Thread Lift (Barbed Threads)

A thread lift using barbed (cog) PDO threads to mechanically lift and reposition sagging tissue of the lower face, softening jowls, marionette lines and nasolabial folds without surgery. The threads grip and lift the tissue immediately and then dissolve over months while stimulating collagen along their path. A PDO thread lift uses absorbable surgical threads made of polydioxanone (PDO) to lift and support tissue that has begun to descend with age. The barbed or cog threads used for lifting have tiny projections along their length that grip the soft tissue; once inserted under the skin through a fine needle or cannula and gently drawn upward, they reposition sagging tissue of the lower face for an immediate lifting effect that is far less invasive than a surgical facelift. The procedure takes around forty-five to sixty minutes. Some swelling, tenderness, bruising and a feeling of tightness are normal for several days, and you are advised to avoid wide mouth movements, dental work and facial massage for a couple of weeks while the threads settle. The PDO threads are gradually absorbed over roughly six months, but the collagen they stimulate along their path means results commonly last in the region of twelve to eighteen months. A thread lift suits adults with mild-to-moderate sagging who want a non-surgical lift; it is not a substitute for a facelift in advanced laxity, and suitability is assessed beforehand. It is avoided in pregnancy and over active infection.
