Removal of a tooth that cannot be saved — because of advanced decay, fracture, severe gum disease or to make space — performed under local anaesthesia. The dentist eases the tooth out as gently as possible and gives clear aftercare instructions to support healing. Pricing depends on whether the tooth has one or several roots; complimentary computer-controlled anaesthesia helps keep the procedure comfortable.
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth that is beyond saving or is causing problems — for example a tooth destroyed by decay, split by a fracture, loosened by advanced gum disease, or one that needs to be removed for orthodontic or prosthetic reasons. At Kaja Dental a straightforward extraction begins with a review of the tooth and any relevant X-ray, after which the area is fully numbed; complimentary computer-controlled anaesthesia is available to make the injection itself more comfortable. The dentist then loosens the tooth within its socket and removes it with controlled, gentle movements, aiming to preserve the surrounding bone and gum as far as possible. A single-rooted tooth such as an incisor is usually simpler and quicker than a multi-rooted molar, which is reflected in the price. Once the tooth is out, you will be given gauze to bite on and clear aftercare instructions — how to manage the clot, what to eat, and how to keep the area clean — to reduce the small risk of complications such as a dry socket. Mild discomfort and swelling for a day or two are normal and respond to simple pain relief. Where a tooth is being removed from a visible or functional position, the dentist will also discuss options for replacing it, such as an implant or a bridge, ideally before the extraction so the plan is clear. Surgical removal of more difficult teeth, including impacted wisdom teeth, is offered separately.
