Radiofrequency microneedling merges two established skin rejuvenation modalities — mechanical microneedling and bipolar radiofrequency energy — into a single device that delivers RF heat at precise, adjustable depths within the dermis. At K2 Medical, the face-only RF microneedling session targets common concerns including skin laxity, enlarged pores, uneven texture, fine lines, and acne scarring. The device uses an array of insulated micro-needles that penetrate the skin to a controlled depth (typically 0.5 to 3.5mm depending on the treatment zone). Once the needles reach the target depth, bipolar RF energy is emitted from the needle tips, heating the surrounding tissue to 60-70°C. This thermal zone is confined to the dermis — the insulated needle shafts protect the epidermis from surface burns, which is a significant advantage over surface-applied RF or ablative laser treatments. The combination of mechanical micro-injury and thermal coagulation triggers a robust wound-healing cascade. Fibroblasts are activated to produce new type I and type III collagen, while existing collagen fibres contract and reorganise under the thermal stimulus. The result is progressive skin tightening and textural improvement that continues developing for 3 to 6 months after treatment as the remodelling process matures. The facial session takes approximately 45 minutes including numbing time. A topical anaesthetic is applied 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure to ensure comfort. Post-treatment, patients can expect redness and mild swelling for 24 to 72 hours, with most returning to normal activities the following day. A series of 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is typically recommended for optimal collagen remodelling results.
