Running & Gait Analysis — RunTime

Type

Physiotherapy

Duration

55 min

Biomechanical running analysis using the RunTime instrumented smart treadmill — a system combining force sensors and multi-angle video capture to map running mechanics, load distribution, cadence, stride length, and technique errors in real time. The 55-minute session includes the full analysis plus a 25-minute physiotherapy session in which a Charles University-trained therapist interprets the data, identifies injury-risk patterns, and prescribes targeted corrective exercises. Suited to competitive runners, recreational athletes, beginners establishing good technique, and those returning to running after injury.

RunTime is a specialist treadmill system integrating force-plate sensors and synchronised high-frame-rate video cameras, enabling simultaneous capture of kinematic (movement pattern) and kinetic (force) data during running. This dual-data approach allows the physiotherapist to see not only how the runner moves but how much load is being transferred through each footfall, and in which direction — information that neither video alone nor force measurement alone can provide. At K+Clinic, the session begins with a brief warm-up on the treadmill while the therapist observes gross movement patterns. The formal analysis period records multiple running speeds, capturing video from front, rear, and lateral perspectives. The data is reviewed in real time, with the therapist annotating key findings: foot-strike pattern (heel vs mid-foot vs forefoot), overpronation or supination, knee collapse (valgus), pelvic drop (Trendelenburg sign), trunk lean, arm mechanics, cadence, and ground contact time. The final 25 minutes of the session is a one-to-one physiotherapy consultation in which the runner receives a personalised report: which mechanics are contributing to current symptoms or injury risk, which compensatory patterns are present, and a prioritised set of corrective drills, strengthening exercises, and technique cues. Where relevant, findings can be combined with baropodometric foot-pressure data for a more complete lower-limb biomechanical picture. This service is appropriate for runners training for a first 5K through to marathon-level athletes, anyone experiencing recurring running-related injuries (IT band syndrome, patellofemoral pain, stress reactions, Achilles problems), and individuals returning to running after a break or injury. Post-analysis, follow-up physiotherapy sessions can be booked to implement the corrective programme and reassess progress.
