The VI Peel at JECT NYC is a proprietary medium-depth chemical peel formulated by VI Aesthetics, combining a synergistic blend of five active agents: trichloroacetic acid (TCA) as the primary exfoliation driver, salicylic acid for its oil-soluble keratolytic and anti-inflammatory action in pores and follicles, phenol for enhanced penetration and epidermal resurfacing, retinoic acid for cellular renewal and collagen stimulation, and vitamin C as an antioxidant and brightening agent. Together, these agents produce a controlled injury to the epidermis and superficial dermis that triggers a healing cascade: new keratinocytes replace the exfoliated outer layer, fibroblasts produce fresh collagen and elastin, and melanocytes normalise pigment production over the post-treatment weeks. The VI Peel is formulated to be self-neutralising — meaning no clinic-side neutralisation step is required — and patients leave with the peel applied to skin, along with a take-home finishing solution applied four to six hours after treatment to complete the process. Visible peeling of the treated skin occurs over three to five days post-application, during which moisturiser and broad-spectrum SPF are the primary aftercare products. This peeling phase is a normal and expected part of the treatment.
