Laser treatment to fade unwanted pigmentation — sun spots, age spots and other patches of excess melanin — by targeting the pigment so the body can clear it, leaving a more even tone. At JCTL the laser is matched to the type and depth of the marks, and treatment can be focused on individual spots or broader areas of sun damage. Some marks lighten after a single session, while more diffuse pigment usually improves over a short course.

About this treatment

Pigmentation such as sun spots, age spots and other areas of excess melanin forms when pigment-producing cells deposit too much colour in parts of the skin, often driven by sun exposure over the years. Laser pigment removal works by delivering light that is absorbed by the melanin in these marks; the energy breaks the pigment into smaller particles that the body's own processes then clear away, so the spots fade and the surrounding tone looks more even.…

After a free consultation and assessment, the area is cleansed and treated; the laser is felt as quick warm pulses and sessions are usually short. Treated spots commonly darken and form a fine crust over the next few days before flaking away to reveal lighter skin, and the area should be protected from the sun throughout.
