A thread lift uses fine, absorbable surgical threads introduced under the skin to lift and reposition tissue that has begun to descend, and to stimulate a collagen response along the line of each thread. The area is numbed with local anaesthetic before the threads are inserted through a fine needle or cannula and gently drawn to lift the tissue; the procedure usually takes around thirty to forty-five minutes depending on how many threads are used.
