Spine MRI — Single Section (3T)

Type

MRI Scan

Duration

25 min

3T MRI of one spinal section (cervical, thoracic, or lumbosacral) on the MAGNETOM Spectra. The high-field platform provides detailed assessment of intervertebral discs, spinal canal, nerve roots, and vertebral bodies.

The single-section spine MRI at IZD MRI covers one spinal region — cervical (C1-C7), thoracic (T1-T12), or lumbosacral (L1-S1) — on the Siemens MAGNETOM Spectra 3T scanner. The protocol includes sagittal T1 and T2-weighted sequences, axial images at each disc level, and STIR sequences for bone marrow oedema. At 3 Tesla, the scanner offers enhanced spatial resolution compared to 1.5T, improving visualisation of small disc herniations, subtle foraminal stenosis, and early degenerative facet changes. The increased signal is particularly valuable for thoracic spine imaging, where 1.5T systems can struggle with motion artefacts from cardiac and respiratory motion. At EUR 190 per section, patients requiring multiple sections pay proportionally — two sections at EUR 380 and three sections at EUR 570. Contrast-enhanced spine MRI adds EUR 50 and is indicated for suspected spinal cord tumours, post-surgical evaluation, infection, or inflammatory myelopathy. Available contrast agents include Gadovist and ProHance.
