Spine MRI with Contrast — Single Section (3T)

Type

MRI Scan

Duration

35 min

Contrast-enhanced 3T spine MRI of one section (cervical, thoracic, or lumbosacral) for suspected spinal cord tumours, post-surgical evaluation, infection, or inflammatory myelopathy.

The contrast-enhanced single-section spine MRI at IZD MRI adds intravenous gadolinium to the standard 3T spine protocol. Post-contrast T1-weighted sequences with fat saturation highlight areas of abnormal enhancement, essential for differentiating active inflammation from chronic scarring, characterising intramedullary and extramedullary tumours, and evaluating suspected discitis or vertebral osteomyelitis. At 3 Tesla, the enhanced spatial resolution combined with gadolinium produces particularly detailed images of the spinal cord and cauda equina. This is valuable for detecting small enhancing lesions in multiple sclerosis, longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis, and subtle leptomeningeal disease. At EUR 240 per section (base EUR 190 + EUR 50 contrast), patients receive high-field contrast-enhanced spine imaging at a fraction of Western European pricing. The examination is indicated when native MRI findings are equivocal, or when the clinical question specifically requires tissue enhancement assessment.
