Brain MRI (3T)

Type

MRI Scan

Duration

30 min

High-resolution 3 Tesla brain MRI on Siemens MAGNETOM Spectra. The 3T field strength delivers twice the signal-to-noise ratio of 1.5T systems, producing sharper images for detecting small lesions, early-stage tumours, and subtle white matter changes.

The brain MRI at IZD MRI uses the Siemens MAGNETOM Spectra 3T to image the entire intracranial compartment with superior spatial resolution. At 3 Tesla, the scanner produces approximately double the signal-to-noise ratio of a 1.5T system, translating directly into finer anatomical detail in T1, T2, FLAIR, and diffusion-weighted sequences. This enhanced resolution is clinically meaningful for detecting small metastases, early demyelinating plaques in multiple sclerosis, subtle cortical dysplasia in epilepsy workup, and microbleeds associated with cerebral amyloid angiopathy or hypertensive vasculopathy. The FLAIR sequence at 3T is particularly sensitive to periventricular and juxtacortical lesions. At EUR 250, this is competitively priced for 3T brain imaging in Central Europe. For comparison, 3T brain MRI in Austria or Germany typically ranges from EUR 350 to EUR 600. Contrast-enhanced brain MRI adds EUR 50, using gadolinium-based agents (Gadovist or ProHance) for tumour characterisation, infection, and inflammatory conditions. The centre's location in Dunajská Streda — 45 minutes from Bratislava and near the Hungarian border — makes it accessible for patients from both countries.
