Vitamin D3 deficiency is extremely common in Central Europe, particularly from October to April when ultraviolet B radiation is insufficient for skin synthesis. The injection delivers a standardised dose directly into muscle tissue, from where it is absorbed into circulation and converted by the liver and kidneys to active calcitriol — the form that regulates calcium, bone density, immune function, and mood.
About this treatment
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the same form produced in human skin under UVB radiation, and is the preferred supplemental form over D2 (ergocalciferol) due to its longer half-life and superior efficacy at raising serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D.
