Normatec Recovery Boots Session
Type
Compression Therapy
Duration
30 min
A pneumatic compression recovery session using Normatec boots that employ sequential pulse technology to enhance circulation, reduce muscle soreness, and speed recovery. The boots mimic the body's natural muscle pump, promoting blood flow and lymphatic drainage in the legs.
Normatec recovery boots use dynamic air compression with patented sequential pulse technology to deliver a massage-like experience to the legs. The system inflates in zones from the feet upward, holding compression in each zone before releasing — mimicking the natural muscle pump that drives blood and lymphatic fluid back toward the heart. This pulsing pattern promotes venous return (blood flowing back to the heart), enhances lymphatic drainage (clearing metabolic waste products), and reduces extracellular fluid accumulation (swelling). Research on pneumatic compression devices shows they may reduce perceived muscle soreness, maintain range of motion post-exercise, and decrease markers of muscle damage. The boots offer multiple pressure settings and zone configurations, allowing the session to be personalised for comfort and therapeutic effect. A standard session lasts approximately 30 minutes, though this can be adjusted based on the client's needs and recovery goals. Normatec sessions are available at IV Health's Glen Waverley and Moonee Ponds locations. They pair well with IV infusions — many clients book a Muscle Rehab or Energy IV and use the boots during the infusion for a combined recovery session. The boots are also popular as a standalone treatment after training, running, or long periods of standing.
