Effective laser hair removal requires multiple sessions because the laser can only permanently disable follicles in the active growth phase (anagen). Approximately 80–90% hair reduction is typically achieved across 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart, depending on the treatment zone, skin type, and hormonal factors. Maintenance sessions once or twice yearly may be required for hormonally responsive areas. Each session begins with the application of cooling gel or a chilled hand-piece tip to protect the skin surface. Most patients describe the sensation as a warm snap or pinprick. Immediately after treatment, mild redness and follicular oedema (swelling around each hair follicle) are normal and resolve within 24–48 hours. No downtime is required; however, sun exposure should be avoided for 2 weeks before and after each session. Treatments are medically supervised and appropriate for skin types I–IV by Fitzpatrick scale.
