Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Breast lift (mastopexy) at ISCARE Praha 9 reshapes and elevates ptotic breasts — those that have lost firmness due to ageing, pregnancy, or weight changes — without necessarily changing their size. Performed by MUDr. Alexander Vatľak, the procedure tightens the breast envelope, repositions the nipple-areola complex, and removes surplus skin. The result is a more youthful, lifted breast contour that remains stable for many years.

Mastopexy, commonly called a breast lift, is a surgical procedure that corrects breast ptosis (drooping) by removing excess skin and reshaping the breast tissue to raise the breast to a higher, firmer position. At ISCARE Klinické centrum, the procedure is carried out by MUDr. Alexander Vatľak following a complimentary in-person consultation. Beast ptosis commonly results from pregnancy and breastfeeding, significant weight loss, ageing, or simple gravitational stretch over time. Mastopexy does not significantly change breast volume — patients who wish to combine lifting with augmentation may opt for a simultaneous mastopexy-augmentation, where implants are placed at the same operative session (priced separately). The surgical technique is chosen based on the degree of ptosis. Minor ptosis can be addressed with a periareolar (donut) lift; moderate ptosis requires a vertical (lollipop) scar; marked ptosis is best corrected with an inverted-T (anchor) approach. MUDr. Vatľak discusses the most appropriate technique and expected scar placement during the pre-operative consultation. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately 1.5–2.5 hours depending on complexity. Patients remain in hospital for one day after surgery for monitored recovery before discharge. A surgical support bra is worn for 4–6 weeks; strenuous arm movements and exercise are restricted for 6 weeks. Results are visible immediately and improve as post-operative swelling resolves over 6–8 weeks. Scars continue to fade for up to 18 months. Outcomes are long-lasting provided the patient maintains a stable weight and avoids further pregnancies.
