During surgery, implants are typically placed either subglandularly or in a dual-plane position (partially under the pectoralis major muscle) depending on the patient's existing tissue and preference. The incision is made in the inframammary fold to minimise visible scarring. Procedure time is approximately 60–90 minutes under general anaesthesia administered by a specialist anaesthesiologist.
