Microneedle Fractional Radiofrequency — De-Age EX

The De-Age EX device at ILK delivers fractional radiofrequency energy directly into the dermis by bypassing the epidermis entirely with 36 microneedles. Unlike surface RF devices, this approach places thermal energy at the precise dermal depth where collagen and elastin are remodelled — from 0.1 to 4 mm — without burning the overlying skin. Thermal pulses up to 35 J contract existing collagen fibres immediately and stimulate neo-collagen synthesis over the following weeks. The result is progressive skin tightening, pore reduction, wrinkle smoothing, and improvement in acne scarring and stretch marks. Each applicator is sterile and single-use, eliminating cross-contamination risk.

Microneedle fractional radiofrequency at ILK uses the De-Age EX platform — a device specifically designed to address the fundamental limitation of surface RF treatments: the inability to deliver thermal energy past the epidermis without causing epidermal burns. The De-Age EX resolves this by using an array of 36 ultra-fine microneedles that penetrate the skin to the selected depth (0.1–4.0 mm, adjustable per zone and indication) and then emit radiofrequency energy directly from their tips within the dermis. The epidermis above the needle insertion point is spared from thermal load because the current flows between the needle electrodes within the dermis rather than through the epidermal surface. At the needle tips, the RF energy generates a focal heat zone — up to 35 J of thermal energy per pulse — that achieves two simultaneous effects. First, existing collagen fibres in the treated zone immediately contract due to heat-induced protein denaturation, producing an immediate tightening effect visible at the end of the session. Second, the controlled thermal injury triggers the wound-healing cascade: fibroblast activation, growth factor release, and new collagen and elastin synthesis that matures over 3–6 months post-treatment. The adjustable depth means the device can be calibrated precisely: 0.5–1 mm for superficial pore and fine-line work; 1.5–2.5 mm for acne scars, neck laxity, and deeper wrinkles; 3–4 mm for significant sagging or stretch marks. Indications at ILK include facial skin laxity, enlarged pores, superficial and deeper wrinkles, neck and décolletage tightening, acne scarring, and abdominal or thigh stretch marks. The single-use sterile applicator is discarded after each session, ensuring no risk of cross-contamination between patients.
