Computer Dermatoscopy — Mole & Skin Lesion Screening

ILK's dermatoscopy service uses both a clinical computer dermatoscope and a robotic AI dermatoscope for full-body screening — magnifying and digitally recording each lesion so its internal architecture can be assessed for risk features invisible to the naked eye. MUDr. Pavel Pacák, ILK's lead laser skin physician, performs the examinations. Digital records are maintained to enable precise monitoring of lesion change over time. Patients with moles larger than 5 mm, asymmetric or irregular lesions, or any changing mole should be screened. If a lesion is suspicious, removal is available at the same clinic with optional histopathological examination.

Computer dermatoscopy at ILK is a physician-led skin cancer surveillance service that combines standard clinical dermatoscopy with AI-assisted robotic full-body screening — a capability that places ILK significantly above what most regional clinics in south Bohemia can offer. The clinical dermatoscope uses polarised illumination and magnification to visualise structures within the dermis and epidermis that are completely invisible under standard office lighting. Dermatoscopy-visible features — the pigment network pattern, vascular structures, regression areas, white lines, and blue-white veil — are the diagnostic language of melanoma detection; training in their systematic interpretation is the specialist skill that differentiates a dermatoscopy-trained physician from a general practitioner examining moles. The robotic AI dermatoscope used for full-body screening (3,300 Kč) adds a second layer of analysis: the AI system has been trained on large dermatoscopy image databases and assigns risk scores to individual lesions, flagging those requiring detailed clinical review. This enables efficient full-body mapping — the robot can document every mole in a single session — while the physician reviews the flagged cases in detail. Digital records of all examined lesions are stored, enabling quantitative comparison of lesion characteristics at each visit — a significant advantage over static-photograph systems. The standard per-lesion pricing (1,500 Kč first lesion, 1,000 Kč additional) is appropriate for targeted examination of 1–5 specific lesions of concern. The full-body AI screening (3,300 Kč) is recommended for patients with a high total mole count, a personal or family history of melanoma, a history of significant sun exposure, or lesions on difficult-to-examine body locations (back, scalp). If any lesion is classified as suspicious, removal can be arranged at ILK using CO2 laser or surgical excision with histopathological examination of the specimen.
